Zero danger level. Preliminary analysis.

Once upon a time there was a crazy hacker who got an idea to "break in" to the dreaming world. He was an eccentric type - a wild mix of Don Quixote, Baron Munchausen and fortunate adventurist who managed to come across of one and a half million dollars of "easy" money. His name was Sam Gorbunkov. Or, may be Sergei Izrigi? What difference does it make now?
He organized six dreaming clubs, in Minsk, in Riga and in for major Russian cities. The guy hired 5 advertising agents and 16 psychoanalysts who lured people to the clubs and conducted the questioning according to the method, especially developed for the research. The conversations were recorded on audio and video and then the tapes were sent to 6 analytical groups. 41 retired military analysts compiled their fancy classifications, extracted the common patters, and sent the results to the employer. Those were the fine days. Insane interest to the powerful project combined with fatigue, irritation and anger. People were coming and coming in one never ending stream. Imagine a large well lighten conference hall, a large table with the drinks and food in the middle. The atmosphere of friendship and warmth. Casual chatting, meeting people, and, of course, flirting. Then the questioning began, and people spoke, and spoke and spoke.
"Psychologists nodded, asked their questions, the tapes were rolling. Everyone enjoyed being someone important for a change. People liked the feeling that their knowledge and experience was needed by someone. They shared it to the best of their abilities. More than that-it was hard to stop them. We heard stories of dead people on balconies, of chases through old ruins, flying over cities, and so on and so forth. After two weeks I began waiting for a sign to end this social experiment. The sign came in the flesh, a bodybuilder-type chap with a square face, and fists bigger than his head. I had just come to Riga to check on the local Dreaming club and stumbled upon this guy while walking in the hall. "Is this the Dreaming club?" - he asked.
"Yes sir, it is."
"So..." he shouted... "You're the one who's sleeping with my wife?!" and his fist sent me flying across the hall. I spat out a tooth and decided that this was undoubtedly the sign I had been looking for. We called it a day, shut down the clubs, and started to analyse the results. The psychologist wrote up volumes, but the principle finding was simple. The dreams were a bit of talking, a bit of action and a fantastic cliché-the same thoughts, the same plots, the same movements. When speaking of one hundred cases one cannot see many similarities; however, when it came to thousands of dreams the synchronicity was astonishing. For example, on February the 3rd 1994, a lot of people were dreaming about playing with children either on a construction site or amongst ruins. What was that? A "dream-movie" broadcast? Or some file that was stored on the "disk drive" of those people? Was that a correct
interpretation of the data that was sent to them? Was it a warning?
An instruction? Even now these questions remain unanswered. It's virgin territory for pioneers like you. The synchronicity issue had a personal touch. While reading the ports I came across a dream that resembled my own in some detail. A woman described sneaking inside a pyramid where, to her surprise, she found a little hen house. That was funny, a pyramid, ruthless guards, underground labyrinth and-a chicken farm. The fact is that I had almost exactly the same dream, only in my dream there were some cows present. I met the woman and we became friends. She entered the group of enthusiasts that began forming around me at that time. Her name was Alla-a bright star of a little town in the suburbs of Moscow. Later she became a dreamhacker and broke into the kernel of "dream security" which traces our conscious trips in the world of forces and energies, the world of our private, collective and social personnifications. Alla- a tragic fate, and a rebellious spirit who broke the chains of physical illness. She is the real-life example that a true hacker is a warrior. We will meet her later, in the next chapter, but for now let's get back to some analysis."
"At that time scientists openly discussed dreams and published their research. The military paid almost no attention at all to the subject. However, in 1995 the situation changed dramatically.
Hundreds of files describing the relations between "reality" and the "Dreaming world" were removed from the archives. Some examples of direct correlations:
a) How do the dreams of ordinary people differ from those of rape victims?
b) Dreams of the survivors of concentration camps and those who witnessed mass executions?
c) Dreams of the teens with the symptoms of progressive hearing loss?
d) Influence of sadism and masochism on dreams of people of different age groups;
e) Connection between vestibular activity and the frequency of "transparent" dreams;
f) Influence of the menstrual hormonal circle on the content of dreams;

Some opposing examples:
a) The role of dreams in stress adaptation;
b) The influence of dreams on creativity and the conception of metaphors;
c) Incorporation of "solutions" from the "dreamworld" to "everyday reality".
d) The influence of different types of dreams on hormonal activity.

However, we made it just in time. All scientific knowledge accumulated by humanity over the last 30 centuries found its place in 50 thick files titled "Archives". The work of hundreds of hired specialists who spent their days flying up-and-down the ladders between the racks of tall shelving was not in vain."
"I found myself immersed in a sea of theories. Articles praising Calvin Hall and Bergson were followed by critiques of Freud. 'The content of dreams is a product of memories randomly chosen by a biological process' reputable scientists wrote. "No way!" - others replied. "You forgot to take into account the aspects of creative incubation and the REM-dream function. The brain itself organises the neuron signals, a cogniscent co-relation which creates interruptions and inconsistencies during dreams." "Nonsense!" other opponents insisted. "We should consider REM-dreams, NREM-dreams and the waking state as the expressions of one undifferentiated state, because EEG graphs clearly show 7 to 9 Hz peaks between the waking state, the NREM-dream, and the REM-dream, in the same frequency that was noted during meditation." However, every theory is just a possibility determined by a set of chosen facts. That is, the number of theories could be infinite, and all of them could be correct in some way. At the same time the "creeping silence" was all over Russia. The "science of dreaming" was ripped-off down to the last file, hidden away, and shuffled into the back of a dark closet. Professors stole the last of the equipment. Assistants were drinking ethanol and selling the last discoveries. Maybe because of all that, my friend, one rich and crazy hacker said: "Enough is enough! Let someone else make their fortune on the blood of Russian boys and their mothers' tears! I will invest in the development of the science of "controlled dreams", so everyone who's fed up with the nonsense of world leaders can have a place where he can go-the place of dreams and knowledge, a beautiful and mysterious El Dorado". What was said was done. In a little over a period of one month we collected all the then-available information about Dreams and Dreaming. Our conclusion was that Dreaming was an analogy of accessing a computer text file in "read only" mode.["Machines are extensions of the senses"] Now, five years later, some American scientists have come to the same conclusion. Dreaming is the description, the interpretation of influences which are passed to our consciousness by our brain. The Dreaming world is an illusion, maya. In fact, each dream is a "bubble of perception", embodying the description of some place, the scene, the characters, the emotions and feelings. What we call the "Dreaming world" is just a handful of "bubbles"-a void-within-a-void, separated from chaos by a thin film of colour."
"Those familiar with computers will know that a data file cannot influence the operating system. However it can become the "lock pick" once you add on macros. Hackers use this trick to break in to any secured system, and we decided to use it to "break in" to Dreaming. This is why Don Juan told Castaneda to look for his hands in dreams - he insisted on remembering about it while Dreaming, in bringing on the awareness, the macro "hands" in the content of the dream, and gradually creating the "worm' in the programming of his conscience. One might say it's the craziest idea they've ever heard. Well, considering that it came from our crazy hacker, it is not surprising. The important thing is that my friend was rich enough to be able to test his hypothesis. In order to find a method different from the one used by Carlos Castaneda, our analyst suggested to use a "CAR", a "Creation of Artificial Replacement". This method implies introducing the "active" into the system, which in its turn will create an artificial space, a place for future action. We decided to replace a handful of "bubbles of perception" with an artificial "controlled" space, or more accurately, with an exact copy of the human conscience matrix which describes the dreaming world for us. Each of us had to create a map of Dreams, and place all the "bubbles" in one "picture". Oh, how naive we were in our vanity of pioneers. After years passed, we realised that we had only been repeating the Toltec technique of Recapitulation, with the only difference that we were recapitulating not our lives, but our Dreams. And do you know what? Those Toltecs were the real hackers."

Drawing a map of the dreams

Drawing a map of any kind is not the goal, just a means to an end. While drawing a map, you get acquainted with the surroundings, and later find yourself in those new surroundings. Let's imagine an ordinary PC game quest, where the gameplay space is obscured by the "fog of war". This may sound far-fetched, but is a suitable analogy with the Dreamworld. Is there anywhere, or anyone who has ever played such a PC game, who found one where the mission consisted uncovering the map? No. But instead of that, there are a lot of games, where by getting rid of the "fog of war" and uncovering the map, we find the solution for the "quest mission". The real gamer knows that it is impossible to achieve the goal without using the map. Spatial orientation saves your time and energy, while the absence of the map transforms the interesting game into a boring wandering-round-in-circles. Drawing the map is the method, but not the aim. Moreover, the map is not the Dreamworld, just as the globe is not the Earth. The Dreaming-map is a type of space created in vitro, which only in a varying degree reflects the description of our Dreams. The map is not able to describe all of your Dreams. It is limited by the choice of the basic elements. For instance, you can draw the map of the terrain with the complexity of your feelings, or you can direct your attention to the other components of the Dream. "Dreamhackers" stopped on drawing the map of the terrain. But why did they choose this way? They decided that it could be used as a method of Not-doing for Dream description. In this case the dreamer excludes a part of the inner dialogue, the part connected with the "spirit entities" of the dream (the term coined by the Dreamhackers). According to the hackers' opinion, the Dream is the bubble of perception which includes a small terrain with such attributes as "spirits" and background. Some Dreams don't have those attributes (sprites, background)."
Let's run off this topic for a bit and discuss different classifications of the dreams. In fact, there are thousands of them. For instants, Partris Garfield offers us a classification of the universal dreams, which lays stress on emotional constituent and divides all kinds of the dreams into pairs of oppositions: dreams about the falls and dreams about the flights; dreams about the losses and dreams about the acquirements etc. It is one of the most elegant classifications, but it numbers 36 types of the dreams. "Hackers" invented their own classification and narrowed it down to 4 types:
1) Delirious loops. Usually those dreams are extremely schematic and have chiming plot. As a rule, people see those dreams during the illness, prostration or wasting. Those dreams can be perfectly remembered. In most of the cases "loops" spins during the 5-6 REM periods. As for the beginners, they are practically useless. As for experienced users, it is a wonderful chance to jump into the lucid dream. That's interesting that loops frequently have minimized background nearly with the full absence of the sprits. "Hackers" consider this type of the dreams to be an equivalent of the checkout program.
2) Chats are the dreams ("Talking" Dreams), whose content in 80-90 percents consists of prattle, monologs and dialogs. Usually people don't remember them. Those dreams can be met during 2, 3, 4 REM periods. In case of an active practice of the dreamer those dreams transform into 3 and 4 types.
3) Bright dreams are the dreams with the deep background, complicated plot and picturesque sprits. Those dreams can be usually met during 1, 5, 6 REM periods. They supply the dreamer with the main material for the map creation.
4) Transparent dreams. They are usually very rare on the initial stages of the practice. People remember them nearly perfectly and often interpret them as the lucid dreams, because the transparent dreams involve moments of the knowing that you are at sleep.
"Hackers" consider that "controlled dreams" are not dreams at all. As I have already said, it is only one of the available classifications. Mostly, it doesn't differ from the others and I offered it to you only to show all the limitations of the dream cartography (which mainly, as you have already understood, exploits only 3 and 4 types of the dreams). But why do we need this beta-version (the cut down model)? And what's about creating something more global? For example, a description, which reminds the Mendeleyev table, where the valence of the feelings, columns of visualized images and concentration on specific energy centers of the body could identify the paradigm and orientation of your feelings. All those challenges are available to you. You have already lived out a third part of your live in your dreams and are an expert in this field. You can create you own models and classifications. There is a rule of the chinee U. - at first, you plough the field and only after that the field feeds you. You should work on your model if you want your model to work on you. "Hackers" are lazy dogs. What's why, they have created this "beta-version". Their method is not the gate of the dreams, but the common underground passage under the wall of the unknown. I have met a lot of regular guys, who with the varying insistence used the method of "finding their hands in a dream". In fact, only few of them have achieved the success. Two-three successful dreams in a full year reflex the most typical situation. Of course, there were some lucky devils, who managed to do it without any efforts (or with efforts). And in the same time thousands of people leaved Toltec practices, considering themselves to be incapable and weak. After that, they hunted for explanations of their bad luck, but in the deepest part of their soul they longed for those amazing possibilities, which have been described by Castaneda. "Hackers" offer them one more chance - entering the world of lucid dreams through the narrow manhole of the substitution, created in virto. If the Eagle is satisfied by the substitution, created by the recapitulation, then why shouldn't he swallow the surrogate of the reviewed dreams?
Well, let's enter the underground passage. We will begin our quest and dispel (a bit) the "fog of war". In other words, we will just look around. What does the dreamer need to practice the cartography? Firstly, he needs the diary of the dreams. Keep it near to your bed. Secondly, he needs a pencil with a rubber. If you called to your memory and remembered one of your dreams you should make a note. Firstly, you should draw the scheme of the terrain - a mountain chain, a lake, a glade with the rood. If you saw yourself in a building don't waste your time on drawing different rooms - mark this house and everything, what surrounds it. If you saw a comb, which transformed into the mountain, then call it comb/mountain. You mustn't be especially concrete in this situation. But the more strength would be put in at the beginning, the quicker progress would go on. Secondly, post titles on the scheme, which will illustrate the details of the landscape. A month later you will watch on your picture as at the first time and titles will retrieve recollections. Thirdly, you should describe the plot of your dream in brief. For instance, "The meeting with olly. It looked at me and I became very afraid of it. The fear took my attention away into another bubble of the perception (in another dream plot)". It is very useful to number every described dream. While describing the dream you don't need to use cardinal points. Later some interesting transformations in your gathered dream collection will take place. Some of your dream bubbles will interflow. For example, you had a dream about your institute, later, about your native house, then the third dream, which united three dreams in a chain of the united space. It's better to remember the last dream. So you should learn how to awake very softly. Plug in your intention to "remember all of your dreams" after every awaking. Just hold on the fragile recollection of the scene and put the full dream into the perception. A little bit of practice and you will invent your own method of recollection. The main point is making notes daily. If you didn't manage to catch the dream of the previous night then describe another dream, which you remembered. But do it every day! (Or seek after it).
Let's run off a bit and speak about the orientation. Let us assume that you have already gathered hundreds of described dreams and you still don't have just any idea, how to place them on your map. Well, perhaps several dreams interflowed, but others are still up in the air. OK. You have two possibilities - to continue creating you map from thousands of puzzles personally. Or you can use hacker's experience and in that way save 3-4 years of your life. Those, who prefer the "purity of the experiment", should choose the first variant. As for others, they will get dozen of variants round those they can group described dreams. At the initial phase of our researches we engaged several psychologists to solve our problems of orientation. They have made a great number of researches with recruiting our gays and volunteers, who didn't know just anything about this project. For instance, they used to gather a group of ten muscovites and ask them to describe one of the memorials. "How do you see it and from which side do you see it? From whence do you come to it? Let's describe one more memorial. From which side do you see it?" And so on and so forth. It was an ineffective outlay. Finally, experts made the following conclusion: everybody in a specific period of time learns to orientate by cardinal points. People choose two points - their own position and one object, which is titled as "north" or "south", "east" or "west" in relation to their position. The following orientation is lined up according to this object, to be exact, the certain direction turn to be the topping. And experiments in those groups somewise confirmed this theory. It was neither hot nor cold for us.

"Hackers" divided into 2 bands. One of them practiced the already pointed method of dream coalescence. Another one posted numbers of the dreams on the map, pining their faith on the intuition. The first method brought a great amount of interesting inventions. The second one, although brought a mass of commotions, finally appeared to be not worse then the first. Well, what inventions have been made?
1. Firstly, dreamworld (rather the model, which describes it) appeared to be a rather small area. For instance, there is only one city there. I lived in many countries. In Russia I haven't been only in the Far North and in the Far East. Nevertheless, there is only one City on the map - the embodiment of the cities I have ever seen - with the elements of Petersburg, Minsk, Kasbah and Tashkent. Transitions and interflows of those places are amazingly harmonic and natural. Furthermore there are a lot of cul-de-sac bubbles (dreams) round the City - summer colonies, friend's houses, directions in the area, about those I have heard, but haven't visited yet.
2. The centre of the dreamworld is the house of the dreamer. The edges of the map are called "border ranges" (usually it is mountain chains, seas, rivers, dunes, deserts). There is no way farther those "border ranges". In this very moment "Hackers" know only that northern and southern "border ranges" are immutable. With the practice northern "border range" moves slightly afield. There are some "blind spots" on the eastern "border range" (highly restricted area!).
3. There are dozen of places on the dream map, which don't exist in a real world. For instance, the zone of cataclysms, labyrinths and etc. I have already spoken about labyrinths.
4. And the last, but not the least - we have nearly gone out of ours heads when we have found out that our maps had common basic details. Some special places are presented nearly on every map. For example, K. writes about a huge building, which has a link with the stadium. And I have this formation too. And as I know, where this place is situated I can give K. a useful advice and in this way I will help her to create a map. And in case of telling K. about the nearest landmarks she may have a very interesting insight - she will come to know, that she has already visited those landmarks thousands of times and consequently she will be caught by a wonderful and inexpressible feeling of dream recollection. Another one invention is connected with two buildings - a sanctuary and a jail (it can be a "police" or "computer" - smart, evil, destructive; a concentration camp with a bigot-executor; an army college and etc.). You will find a lot in the first place. As for the second place, you have already visited it for many times and loosen a lot. Now then "hackers" found out that in case of the correct practice (by searching for necessary places and evading unnecessary places) a dreamer involves himself in a shocking process. Each new recollection and description of a dream will rope you into a chain of very old recollections (ten or twenty years old). Hundreds of places, where you have been hundreds of times will be revealed in a bright flash. In such moments a man lives through a very powerful state. You will fell not euphoria, but a strange thirst - quicker! more! The reality, relatives, friends, job, the full world will leave you along. You are here and not here - on a strange border. Dreams become very transparent. You realize yourself in a dream every night. Achievements turn out to be heady. The words of Castaneda and don Juan gain a new meaning. You see in them something what you didn't manage to catch before. BAH! Collapse and insufferable depression - you want to commit a suicide. And again you have to gather your strengths piece by piece and continue your practice until new ups and downs come, breaking some membranes in yourself. And later you take your map, malaxate it and use it on purpose. You don't need it any more. By this time, as a rule, there is no "fog of war" on it. Some time later you pay your attention to those strange "blind spots" on the "range border" of a tonal. As the saying goes it is another story.

Dream consists of the set of the components:subject and emotions, characters, locality/terrain, color and sonic formulation, nonconformities, breaks/ruptures, passages and so forth so already it happened, that in the contemporary culture the sleeps usually are used for the prediction of future events.You recall the pair of the bright means of sleep, you open dream-book and find their interpretations.Everything is clear and it is understandable:"to see island - indicates the finding of rest, freedom and deserved appreciation after many anxieties." Or: "to see chains - it betokens slander and treacherous intentions of your enviers." Here the main thing not to open the another dream-book, as this on the stupidity it made I. Never accomplish a similar error. Otherwise you will find that "island - this of change in the personal life, separation and loss; for those consisting of the reject - divorce. And "chain - this is undivided faithfulness." As soon as you compare the interpretations of two dream-books, the method of predictions loses half of its effectiveness. In this its main deficiency consists.
Dreamhackers decided to go by another way. Us it was desirable to create the technology, which would satisfy all requirements and rules, described in the books of Castaneda. We conducted a serious studies and they arrived at the interesting conclusions/derivations:
1. Sleeps are the "protected program".
Men are carried out in sleep third of life. Each night we participate in some mysterious process, about which then we recall fragmentarily, also, with great difficulty. Many people assert that they do not generally "dream". This is error. Science explained that each of us sees for the night 5-6 sleeps. I.e., problem roots in their recollection.
Strange forgetfulness with respect to sleeps is explained differently. Psychologists say that the survival is the basic vital function of man. Since this function, in essence, is achieved in the waked up state, human consciousness abstracts/removes secondary role to sleeps and frequently it does not fix/record into the memories of event, proceeding in the dreams.The severe conditions of life so waste the forces of people that the sleeps become for them prohibitive luxury. Therefore with the age of dream they lose their colorfulness and are converted into the dim reflections of daily concerns. Some scientists are convinced that the process of assimilating the sleeps is connected with the living environment. If you live in the city, the variety of reality distracts you from the experiences of sleeps. But is worth you falling to the periphery of civilized world, be it your villa, Tibetan Lhasa or Sonora's desert, consciousness changes priorities and, avoiding boredom, it allows to approach you to the internal experiences.
Mystics and occultists adhere to another point of view. For them the world of dreams is the special space, in which act their laws of perception. The special methods of the fixation of attention are required for the transfer of information from the world of sleeps into the world of reality. Otherwise, as asserts Mefodius Solunskian, dreamer will repeat parable about the emaciated little mouse, that easily clip through the hole into the basket with the grain, but, after eating till full, it could not come out conversely because of the fanned stomach. "So and the one who reads sleeps, - written in "Khazar's dictionary", - by hungry he with the ease will traverse the close gap between the sleep and the reality, but his output and the fruits, assembled there, the sleeps, by which he was situated, they will prevent it from being returned, because this can be made only such as there it entered. Therefore for it it is necessary either to throw its output or to remain there with it forever."
Dreamhackers consider that the system of human perception is similar to the of packing - program, which depicts the perceived information in the form of the specific symbols and means. This accelerates data processing. In the state of wakefulness the people use one set of packing, while in the state of sleep - by others.The difference in the methods of information processing hampers the process of recollection. Nevertheless, problem is solved - partially or completely. To all is known the fact that the simple conducting of the diary of dreams improves the recollection of the sleeps (attention, which you give to the records, it increases the priority of the decoding program, that in turn it accelerates its fulfillment). Dreamers and stalkers generally change the language of description for the sleeps and realities this it makes it possible for them to combine two parts of existence into one - into the sleep in reality or in the life-in-dream. Difficulties in the transfer of information only open slightly the apex of iceberg. We, as the users of the program of sleeps, are deprived of the elements of control almost completely. People can enter in a sleep and be spilled (analog of "start" and "over"). Everything else depends on the program of sleep. In the wakeful state we are usually awake where we fell asleep. Is relative confidence in the subject of sequential day our attention it clearly records these or other events, creating from them the continuous sequence of actions and movements. You easily can explain as and why they were sorted out from point A to point B although of course in each rule there are the exceptions. Alcohol, narcotics or consequences of disease are capable of tearing up the continuum of the wakeful state. The brick fallen to the head disrupts the fixation of attention. And nevertheless in the wakeful state we possess control over the situation (albeit sometimes partial, but real).
Sleep converts us in marionettes. Entering in dream we do not know, in what place let us prove to be. The collection of subjects and characters is tied to us besides our will. Program transfers us from the scene into the scene completely illogically. We appear first in the role of spectators, then in the role of participants in the events. Sleep monitors us, making it necessary to be subordinated to its commands and rules. Although here there are the exceptions. Some people rarely can "order" the subjects of sleeps.Others introduce into the dreams the insignificant elements of control. However, any prolonged efforts on the "taming" of sleeps cause "retaliatory attack". This is one additional criterion of the "protection" of the dream's program. In the computer graphic there are several methods of texturing. However, in the dreams this process frequently gives the distortions, inherent for linear simpling - the the most rapid, but also most primitive method. This makes it possible to assume that the strange transformation of landscape in the dreams is explained not by the special quality of sleeps, but by the omissions of "programmers".

This territory was considered the reign of giants - the reign through which it was necessary to pass in order to reach the source of immortality. Reading these texts we understood that the ancient Chinese dealt with a mapping of dreams seriously. It is possible to say that dreamhackers only repeat their steps. Unfortunately, information about these ancient dreamers is very rare and vague. The following archetypical element are several gigantic constructions. One of them are the tower, which raised to the sky (babylonian tower?) It is frequently associated in the dreams sleeps with the sport or the military or with some transport terminal. Other gigantic construction is the gigantic temple, built in the form of horseshoe. Its wings disperse from the central building and they get down by the downward five steps of the lateral structures which form horseshoe. These are dangerous place for dreamers. I already told about the City. It is possible to add that on its eastern part it is located very interesting "industrial part". THE "CRACK" OF THE DREAM PROGRAM

Thus, each night we see five-six sleeps, each consists of one or several scenes (the so-called "bubbles of dreams"). If one considers that on the average we passes through 20 "bubbles" in every sleep, then per annum their quantity will compose 7300 units. Daily a beginning dreamer can recall on two-three scenes. Long practice helps to bring this number to twelve "bubbles". Here are initial conditions for our study.
But how to study the phenomenon of sleeps? First of all, we can collect subjects. Or to describe the atmosphere of scene into some complex categories. Or to be abstracted before the thin sensations, trying to leave from any known interpretations and thus to approach the universal language of the universe. All this is worthy of the efforts of researcher. But, being dreamhackers, my friends went by another way. They decided to focus attention in the dream spaces.
Let us assume to you dreamed the sleep, in which you met with friend to some to unknown street. Conversation went about the Tibetan sharks and their connection with the the buddhistic sutra of final enlightenment. Next four raiders robbed jewelry store. Terrible shooting went, but you carelessly continued conversation. The nose of your friend increased continually and this confused you a little.

It became uncomfortable in the triangular room. You rapidly left into the corridor and proved to be in the hall of large store. The crowds of people were passed by, throwing on you mocking views. Suddenly you understood that you stand in the underwear. The splash of complex feelings and emotions forced you to awake.
Thus, we have here three "bubbles": "street", "class" and "store". Each of the bubbles has their limited space. Let us depict them. In the first case you memorized street and orientators located on it: bank, monument, bench and so forth. In the second "bubble" space is limited by school class; in the third - by hall of store. "Bubbles"
are connected by transition points or the so-called "transits". It should be noted that the association of three spaces revealed by us does not create one common continuum. These "bubbles" can be located in the remote from each other parts of the dreamland. Transits accomplish an instantaneous transfer of our attention from one scene of sleep into another. Expert dreamers use them as transportation means. But it is thus far early to tell us about this. Here we examine the method of the "crack" of the program of dreams.
The passages between the "bubbles" are possible only through the transits. Transit - this is not simple the way of the smallest resistance for our attention. This is the result of tuning our emanations. For example, you saw some object/subject (let us assume enema) and on the associative line (i.e., sorting out not only different concepts, but also the emanations of consciousness, connected with the data by concepts) you come to the more extensive gloss ("hospital"). Intention is not expressed clearly, but it there is. And you throws from the sphere "house" into the sphere "hospital". You consider that the enema is transit. In this case the entrance point compulsorily is located in the zone of conversions and transmutations (archetypical zones on the map of dreams)
The everyday reality is the gathering of the similar "bubbles" (units of perception). Apartments, house, samplings, natural obstacles and so forth. Think about this. We are transferred into the remote places with the aid of the technical equipment (trains, cars, aircrafts, rockets), which personified in themselves the idea of stable and space transits. But if in the reality was preserved this form of transits, then, be confident, that there are remaining two. Another matter as them to use. It is interesting to note that the first years of practice brought to us several interesting discoveries. First, we understood that each person (to mapping the dreams) constructed one and the same universal or archetipical matrix. By whatever were individual differences, basis for all maps is one - some imprint of reality, imprint, described by mapping. We isolated the basic archetipical elements of landscapes - fringe areas, gigantic construction, labyrinths, the zone of transmutations or conversions of landscape, transport lines, the zone of cataclysms, the desert ground, etc. In the second place, we detected the places where after visiting a dreamer survived the enormous inflow of energy and the intensification of different abilities. One of the consequences of such "successful entries" is the explosion of the dream memory. Man survives the unique and ecstatic state, when he in one finite and infinite moment recalls hundred and thousands of previous sleeps;
when he accurately knows, when, in what lifetime it saw these sleeps; and when it is introduced to certain integrity. By the words of this not to describe, but when you test on itself, then you will be able to sit down, to draw entire map of dreams and it is more by it not to be occupied. It will remain and it will live in you, in your consciousness. Yes this is understandable. For the long life we visited almost all points of "map". But at the moment of the explosion of the dream memory all these parts will be collected into the one-piece picture.Specifically, after this the controlled dreams usually begin.
Thirdly, we revealed that the program of dreams is well protected. On the large calculations a people are disenfranchised users of sleeps. And we found our "system administrators". At first the dreamhackers classified by their three already existing categories.

in reality it are the histones of DNA-tonal. Fourthly, we detected strangenesses in the orientation of the dream spaces. The same strangenesses were noted in the Ancient Chinese cartography. This pushed slightly us to new studies and searches for the ancient books and manuscripts. Results were staggering. The same attitude of group led to the fact that one of our dreamer found method readings of the dream books. Reading texts in the dream is difficult process. However, dreamhackers solved this problem. And again happened something fenomenal. We obtained access to that layer of information, which is usually called "chronicles Akashi".
Actually, this is access to any data, written down in the information layers of the planet. The first result of this breach became the almost "magic" model of stalking - model on the base of Medici's patience. This model worked with the chains of the dailylife events. It solve the current problems and change the flow of events in the necessary direction and carry out the revision of life in the captivating and merrier manner, than make us seat in the box and rocking by the head. The study of passages from one sleep to another was the following stage of our studies. We revealed the texture of transits - the elements that correspond for similar passages. As it proved to be "transits" there exist and daily world. Finally a crack for the first gate. There is just one minor problem: it might tell us about the problem, but not about the solution. As it seems, this whole Dreaming is only for this elitary group of people with Awareness high enough to see the solution. However, from my childhood (where I had a little more Awareness than now) I remember that:

1) the transport-system of "gazing" at dream-objects can get mapped, too
2) apart from the visible objects there are also thought-objects (no diff)
3) actually there are no thoughts only "solid" thought-objects
4) the upper boundary of dream-bubble leads to reality
5) which reality depends on the angle at which you cross it
6) 90° leads to sleeping-body, sinking into ground does, too
7) touching something in mid-flight is a transport, too
8 ) most of the time transporting to the same (slightly altered) bubble
9) there is a difference between walking and flying because of this
10) each bubble consists of 3 layers, the middle-layer is for joint dreams
11) swimming can not get beyond layer 1
12) neither are there any objects from layer 1 continued in layer 2
13) each layer does have its own ground where landing is possible
14) by landing however the layer is left and dream-energy is increased
15) from layer3 mapping of bubble-pos is much more easy (cut-off pyramid!)
16) layer2 can only be reached in outdoor-environment
17) when leaving a building to get to the outside doesn't mean you get outdoor

Especially interesting is the relation between layer2 and group-dreaming, I even suspect that from layer2 you can drag people from SP into a dream. Also 98 ) seems to confirm the existence of Castaneda's Flyers, so some might be interested in disproving it (thereby proving that they aren't affected by any Flyers). the only difficulty (especially in those 2 points) is to avoid switching into a regular dream-bubble, so you'd better double-check if anything changed. Especially the attempting to move in SP will most certainly lead into a dream-bubble representation of "reality" because of the very fixation on the thought-object of "moving", then you'd need to get back into SP and check if you actually moved. But also layer2 can be quite tricky, as even though no objects are visible it will probably be more likely to get into a dream-bubble representing the other dreamer, than actually sharing a dream.

First of all, I must say that dreamhackers are not a elitary of group of people with high awareness. Most likely they are located in the position of reason (about it spoke by don Juan) - from this position was visible the position of silent knowledge. Let me to answer some questions, although the style of their setting is sufficiently difficult for me.

I cannot comment this block of assertions. Dreamhackers did not investigate the thought-objects. We have several technician of contemplation, but they are not connected with "gazing" at dream-objects.

Possibly, subsequently I and you draw together our systems of the descriptions (to enter into one type of coding), and then we will better understand each other. There were many possibilities for the designation of transits, zones of transformations, cataclysms and other elements of the dream world.
In one of the CC books, don Juan was quoted as saying:
"Machines are extensions of the senses..." ...so it's not really a big surprise that you have found many correlations between the concepts of computers and the concepts of Dreaming. Maybe "machines" ARE the physical manifestation of a subliminal/subconscious memory.

4) Exactly the same I've heard from another source. however, there is a big difference in flying-technique and their "upper-boundary" mechanisms also for crossing windows there is a difference if you first look through it, or if you just cross into the darkness beyond. what you look at when dream-bubble-change happens decides into which dream-bubble you get! maybe the sky you penetrate is what I called layer2?
7) There also are ways of moving where you will never get to the end of your bubble!
8-22) I've never heard of dreamhackers before and my own method was to assume that only one bubble exists and that it is filled with contents from external ram. so I had 2 seperate things: the bubble and the stuff stored in memory. memory, data itself is of no interest for me, I'm trying to "hack" into the game-engine. so I had to stay always in the same bubble and explore the differences in behaviour of the game-engine in the different areas of the dream-bubble, all while assuming that maybe my pos is re-set to the center or whatever. Same concept, different approach. was just a proposal for a new method, maybe even more simple for some.
23-27) The difference in approaches means that I have investigated only a single bubble, but you sound like the city is a combination of multiple bubbles. I have found only 2 different types of bubbles, so no matter where in the city I am, the things I said about layer3 are the same. layer 1 is just about 20m from the ground (there would also be layer0 2m above), everything above layer1 is the border to layer2. layer2 itself is the part of the bubble where I can not see anything. when I fly back from layer2 to layer1 everything stays exactly as I left it.
nevertheless I can also land in layer2 (contradiction). layer3 is just a small room, but also at the same time the bubble I'd get into if I would land here. again, from layer3 I can fly back into layer1. it's quite complicated, but always the same, no matter which bubble as long as it does offer access to layer2 without touching anything.
28-32) Guardians are what you said, but at the same time they also are the same as any other "sprites" as you called them. I was talking about the sprite-aspect of guardians, not the dna-stuff.
90) I'm talking about something completely different from this. imagine you can move assemblage-point, and sprite can do that too. now try to catch sprite! or try to escape sprite! movement is not helpful, assemblage-point of other is swifter than yours. wherever you are, the sprite is there too, if you wish to escape, or has been there just a moment ago if you're trying to catch it. the more sexual energy you have the less likely is that outcome. in discussion with the dream-character you *do* have exactly that situation! I guess the shine you described is only the swiftness of perception, but once you have it no further increase in assemblage-point-movement-ability is possible!

The other points it wasn'T meant as a big question or something, more like a contribution into the pot of ideas. if you have questions about any point, just ask. I'm eager to read some more on this topic, but for me it ends here, since the path to the first gate is clear. maybe sometime I'll cross it (i.e. hack into my dreams and use them for helping me in real-life). As for the disadvantages of getting into other's dreams, I wouldn't say that it is dangerous. I've read someone's posting in alt.dreams. Lucid who actually used the word "bubble" in combination with "key" to denote that people automatically protect their dreams from entering. but I am in the middle between these two opinions: causing harm to others dreams *is* the thing which keeps the luminosity low, when it gets too low your whole dream-hacking does not work! maybe it is possible to attack without getting it lowerd, but that again does get the attacker into great danger from other sources. no matter how you turn it, the more damage you cause to others the greater the danger into which you get, the greater your own difficulties. paranoia is good, but assuming you can't do anything against some danger is just self-pity!

Risk levels

0 level - first mapping stage. Flyers and ollies don't know about your existence yet. You are free in your evolution. The shields of tonal are still strong and indissoluble.

1st level - a gap is shaping in your cocoon. You are now opened for the forces of nagual and death. And death begins to strike you hard.
You start attracting ollies. They are beginning to investigate you whereas you think that you are going crazy. Half of the adepts stops practice on this stage. Many of them got an incurable body or mind diseases.

2nd level - Mortal dangerous! The contact with universe forces and energies demands on person's perfection and special mood. Flyers'
pressing is unbearably strong. Ollies are catching you attention,
trying to become a part of your life. Possession, manias, various neoplasm seem to be not the worst issues here. The worst cases are captivity in labyrinth (that means coma in reality) or agonies in FSS's (federal security service) torture chamber.

I didn't propose that science is so weak in CD (controlled dreams) area. I was shocked by lack of information of our scientists. Recently I've become a member of dream studying association founded by Patricia Garfield. And studying its archives I've realized that scientist don't know anything about CD. And FSS doesn't know about it as well. But they want to evolve that field in their own way. Assume that we worked out the technique of putting sprites into LD.
What a great potential for FSS work! They desire to affect people dreams scaring them in Freddy Kruger manner or programming them as zombies for some orders. E.g. Doc investigated the labyrinths and learned how to lead people out from them. What if conversely - lead them in? What a wide field of action! This isn't less dangerous than the flyers are. Those tyrants are good call for us! That is real conquista for a dreamer.


Techniques to be safety in the dreams.

"After reading the page Dream hackers , I came to the conclusion that dreaming is one very dangerous and even mortal practice,
because of this and because of all those experience that dream hackers have, I would like to ask them. Don't you want to make even basic list of rules for the safety of the dreamers, because many of us have neither teachers, nor even friends that are able to help them, so they can just die or lost their mind cause they don t know the lows of those world."

Dream hacker don't want to make any kind lists of rules, because they are definitely against such. SI has already written about the dangerous, why to repeat it again. For the beginning (up to reaching Awared Dreaming) the dreamer has nothing to fear. Only the teachers that make lists of rules.

I would just add those:
- No walk really in labyrinths.
- Don't play games with the voice of the dream
- Don't think you are eternal and unconquerable.
- Get out of the dream, each time any one (character from your dream) violently puts anything bad through your mouth into your palate. (If you ever had such kind of dreams you need to make a mental cleaning, researching the program imprinted inside your mind, which stops your development. It can manifest itself by making you drowsy, or if you loose many interests you had before.)
- Avoid those places: black world, east area behind the gigantic tower, the river in southwest part of your dreaming area.
- Avoid those kinds: parents, creatures with pliers, very beautiful people, (ghosts that are too lazy to fit to the humans pattern), big flying creatures.
But I repeat that the dangerous begins after the time when the dreamer opens his mind to the powers and looses his defenses. If any one of you has already reached this level, hardly he will benefits the advices given from such kind of simple dreamer and beginner as I am.

One or many "bubbles"?


When man deals with the mapping of dreams, he will plot on map one or two bubbles in every day. Next, after a certain time (it can take month or year), bubbles begin to grow together. It's similar to the soapsuds. After all there remains one enormous bubble - world of dreams -- same enormous bubble as our daily world. I must admit that I do not love to fly in the sleep. For me it more greatly pleases to be moved with the aid of the slanting look. Slanting look is similar to the exhaust of rocket. It takes away you back and a little to the side. Try to make this in the lucid dream, standing by back to the wall. Simply you must bend down a little head and look slantingly to anything that is located in front of you. It will here throw you to the wall. At the moment when you will penetrate through the wall, in you will appear the clear skill of "slanting look". Still I love to be moved along the lines of world. I would like to inform our friends about a method of text-reading in a Controlled Dreaming (CD). Texts as you know, are in familiar and unfamiliar languages. It appears to read is possible anyone. Firstly I tried to use to a method "fastreading", that is "reading" of full page at once. It is a perspective method. Though to learn it as it is difficult, as, say, to recapitulation. It is stated in several books, and it is enough to you enter search system and to give the reference on "fastreading". You understand as I work in library archive and I am engaged in restoration of books, that the basic subject and a theme of my dreams are books. I see them almost each night, and frequently I address to them in CD's. And so, firstly it seemed to me, that the method fastreading will be quite adequate. It accelerates our ability to fix the written information. At the certain skills reading of page can be reduced about one second, and I thought, that such speed will suffice for struggle against escaping essence dreamed texts. Has almost sufficed. It is interesting to note, that my efforts have caused secondary effect. I have got acquainted with "voice of dreams". The SI approves, that it inorganics. Probably. "The Voice of Dreams" catches any dreamer's desire and gives him it (with the humour). You have only to start working, to grow heated and casually to think about something (for example about ladies) you suddenly receive it. But with it it is possible to be reconciled. How to work with " voice of dreams ". You see the text, move a look above it, allowing "voice" to become your reader and the commentator. Let the text constantly is in a field of your sight, but be not fixed at all on it. If to begin recluse, to be grinded in cell or to be covered in a heathland from human cares the quantity of elements for the description of world feel influence of "will", will be considerably reduced. Such way allows the person to save personal force and to direct it on achievement of definite purposes (that is to form intentions). So it is usual people act.
The book "The Theory of a spiritual Way ", which my friend Spame transfer in our world from CD's (see section Articles) is devoted to this theme. Certainly, the book boring and dark. And certainly, whether till now clearly, really Spam "has transfer" it from CD or has compiled from other product. But for "hackers" this question not main (so not main, that we have chosen to trust a version of Spame). But Spame was the first! In it is his unique difference from the Marez, the Broken Feather and other modern pseudo-naguals which are capable only of treatment of another's finds and discovery.
About what it is spoken in this strange and unconvincing book?
First of all, about creation of an artificial line of conduct which transforms life of the adherent into a Spiritual Way. Or, if adapt it (book) under a theme of intention, I can tell, that it puts forward the theory of an optimum choice of ways (lines of acts) which lead us in the desired purpose. About it we shall talk more in detail.


A another archetypical element on a map of dreams are labyrinthes.


At first a fragment from the letter of Doc:

Actually, "labyrinthes" is their way of dialogue with us, and, in my opinion, they do not realize that similar traps and energy loops deprive with us forces and health. With labyrinthes be cautious. For their research you should be collected a experience in the control of the dreams. Having lost comprehension of events in a labyrinth, you will become in that world a titbit - a victim for few ruthless things, and in everyday reality you will find out any incurable disease. Nevertheless to be afraid of wolves - in a wood to not go. Estimate risk on the abilities. My curiosity has costed for me very heavy obligation -
constant contact with some things, which together with a heap of troubles brings in my life a lot of inexplicable moments that similar to miracles. And still better I with it would not meet...

And all this occured in a pinball to name LE. It's common for all people. That is you should collide with a heap of other "balls". And the most terrible place in game - a hole in a ground, meter on two, which assumes death. We can count LE as a certain cause-effect matrix, with the complex rules and interrelations of events. About Russian DH groups:

The Dreamhackers teaching doesn't exist as a consistent teaching, it's dispersed over many web-sites in the form of casual posts, questions from novices, answers several posts later and so on.
Anyway I can send what I have to you if you're interrested. To get it I became member of the yahoo group - "Snovidenie" which means "dream" in Russian. This was damn hard. I had to pass interviews and write some things, but I did it and got in...
In "Snovidenie" though, in 2001 the real dreamhackers began to post (all in Russian). They aren't there anymore, but the moderator keeps in contact and updates the yahoo group which has now become 2nd tier with their new insights and ideas from time to time. Otherwise, in 2002 the group was investigated under "the law of sects," There are more than 13,000 messages and using dihothomy. I read a huge part of that. Lot of garbage of course. Besides the above sketch about the history and map they are using "Patience of Medici" to manipulate chains of events.
This is actual patience with cards from 6 to A. They name events, try the patience and if the reading or drawing of cards has the desired outcome showing in the last 2 cards, they 'initiate a chain of events' by 'performing' whatever sequence was indicated by the cards up to those representing the desired outcome. The rests, magically, goes by itself.
This way they try to cheat Castaneda's Eagle by providing some energetically economic solution. They do this with dream recall as well to give the Eagle dream revisions, instead of life revisions.
To faciliate this they are using some Excell file. You enter the sequence of cards and it checks if it thinks the ritual is supposed to go OK. I found good a english translation of the "Patience of Medici" this term is theirs, but somebody translated it already - 1st hit in Google. this?
Another aspect of the 'hackeros' mind is the their "DNA of the tonal". Its a mess of Magic squares, I Ching and more which I couldnt penetrate in the time I had.
There are new things being developed now, and soon we'll have them too. I say this in the best way, you see the things in relation as 1 system, much like David Hilbert saw mathematics. All the occult science of course tried more ore less during centuries to make it and you are doing very well with this.


Dreamhacking Background

A little prehistory:
In 1994 with the intention to penetrate the "locked" area of dreams, some hacker called Sergey Izrigi (Izrigi = from Riga/Latvia) decided to form 6 clubs of dreamers in Minsk, Riga and 4 other cities of Russia. 5 publicity agents and 16 psychoanalists began to interview invited people and make audio and video tapes of their dreams. Next followed a procedure of classification. All this in a nice atmosphere, tables with food and drinks etc. After about 2 weeks of this the founder waited for a sign to finalize the experment. It came in the forme of some muscled giant, who after informing himself, that this is the club of dreamers, concluded - So, it's you who fucked my wife! Following the first punch by that giant, the founder even today needs a 'golden fixator to his jaw' . So began the analysis. 1000's of dreams were checked and there were a lot of coincidences, and synchronous dreams. Even the founder had synchronous dreams with a participant about an imporant pyramid like Cheops1 and inside something insignificant like hencoop or small cattleshed. After all this a lot of articles were published concerning direct and reverse connection between reality and dreams. Examples:

Direct connection:
* a) What is the difference between dreams of normal and violated people?
* b) Dreams in concentration camps, witnesses of mass executions.
* c) Dreams of teenagers with progressive deafness.
* d) Influence of saddism and mazohism to different age groups.
* e) Connection of vestibular activity and frequency of lucid dreams.
* f) Influence of menstrual cycle hormons to dreams.

Reverse connection:
* a) Role of dreams into post stress adaptation.
* b) Influence of dreams to creativity and metaphoras.
* c) Incorporation of dreams solution in everyday situations.
* d) Influence of dreams to homones generation.

In short - the hackers conclusion was, that dreams are analog of a read-only text file. After 5 years many US scientists came to similar conclusions. Dreams are description, interpretation of some inluences/effects, which our brain transfers to our consciousness. Dreams are an illusion, maya. Every single dream is a balloon of perceptions, inludes a description of some place, stage, actors, emotions and experiences in this moment. The world of dreams is a multitude of such baloons, voids in a void, separated from the Chaos by a rainbow membrane. By itself one text file is not supposed to affect the Operating system. It could however if suplied with "macros" in order to penetrate any (psychically/etc) protected environement including the dreams area. The advice of Don Juan to check your hands in a dream is nothing more than incorporating awareness into your dream, the macro "Hands" in the context of dreamland descriptions was at the start of the hacking project which has at its aim to gradually create a big "worm" in the minds dream (and dream recall) program. To not repeate the Castaneda's method was decided to use CAR - a creation of artificial replacement. This asumes incorporation of an active element with the purpose to fix an artificial space - manoeuvering ground for future investigations. The crucial decision was to replace the personal 'balloons' with a controlled space, or more likely, a copy of the matrix of consciousness responsible for the dreams description. Everybody was obliged to make a "map" of dremland and locate other ballons and groups of balloons to produce a clear picture. After the first flush of pride in their invention it was found that this is a recreation of the toltek dream teachings. Except that this was not a revision of life, but merely a revision of dreams.
Seems, that the tolteks were the real "hackers".

Dreamhacking Concepts

Now the map. The Dreamhackers believe, that by creating a more and more detailed map of the Dreamland, by fixing your attention over the locations, will come a moment when all dreams from the past are recalled. This is described as an exctatic state of the mind. Now remembering is not more a problem, soon after the map is filled it will be not needed any more. There is an analogy between the map and Castaneda's First Gate. Of course everyone's map is personal, but there are also a lot of common places, which may look slightly differently or even change in the dreams of one person. The most important places could be referred to by Jungian archetypes, but the dreamhackers label them "hystons" of the tonal. How to begin and make the map. First the coordinates system. (There is a theory, which for me is a bit hard to accept. The real world is described as a pyramid - tetrahedra, then it's mirrored up, but not exactly vertical. The angle is different for everyone. They identify the axis of this angle as cause-consequence line. How this exactly fits with the coordinates system used is not clear. )
Dreamland is a mirrored space and they should be reversed. Here there was a big controversy and only in 2002 was decided to keep E and W as they are and switch only N and S. (I agree with this Michael, but we could reconcider it later). So the coordinates go:

In the center of the map you put "HOME". This is valid for all. The "HOME" contains parts of all homes we concidered such up to the moment. It's also a TRANSIT place, where the landscape often changes.
(yes, as you tune the level of interior resonance from the outside, that is exactly what happens. .. in a way, the group creates its own charge-system helping members to calibrate on some kind of resonant center (the worm) which then allows the group-mind now joined to document itself through its many head/heart eyes. what a f* lovely project this is! - m)
It's where all began like an explosion of supernova and began to disperse radial way. Arround the home is the CITY, which contains parts of almost all cities you have visited up to the moment. The city is only one, all parts of it blend smoothly. How to identify which part where is. Let's say you dream about a some part of the city. You put it somewhere. Every single dream like such describes 1 baloon. Next night you dream a bus stop. If, you are makig the map seriously, soon a dream will come where you go from the bus stop to that part. So you got their relative disposal. The process is to build the map like a molecular structure of intersected baloons. The zones of intersections are also TRANSITS as you switch from one dream to another usually passing them. Close to the home, should be the SCHOOL. Important are RAILROADS and BUS STOPS, all transport as they move you to different dream locations. The INSTITUTE or UNIVERSITY is a common place although can vary. They also call it just THE HUGE BUILDING. (For me is in the SW area of the city, close to some of the rail stations. Very often a stage for computer game battles, has complex stucture. I can draw it perfectly, altough there is levels and parts left unclear. For some others the place for this "games" is a bit separated up the city. Closed from 3 sides and another building glued to the 4th. The idea of many dreams is to progress to the glued building.)
(dude.. i call it the library of alexandria. it has pools outside. when you know the maya in the dream, you can rise out of the pool and you'll be right there; at least that's where I choose to come out. anyway, try making friends with the receptionist so you can talk to the actual research scientists in there. If you want symbolic overload.. these guys are the best. - m)
Well, let's consider the frontiers. To the N, S, and W Dreamland is boundered by mountains and you cannot go further (this should be revised too). To E after the sea there is a desert which they call "Yondo". (not inspected as far I know). In the NW corner there is place which you can see well only when dying. Described as a vortex, funnel hole where the rivers paralel to the N and W merge. (On my map I drew it by intuition spiralling counterclockwise, but all they do it in reverse. It's OK, the map is mirrored.) In the NE corner is something all hackers fear a lot. It's the ALLY in Castaneda's terms. Close to this ALLY, in NE a bit toward the middle are some bridges - The WAY TO THE NAGUAL. Above the ALLY there is LAKE with an island and above it the SEA with the Resort. The SEA should be aproximately in the middle third of the E side, separated by the city by few small mountains. (Some report difficulties to go there like only one way from the city to the SEA, for me it's normal - if I go I go.)
Above the DEATH Vortex (my term, they use FUNNEL.) is the SANATORIUM Hotel of broken hearts into some forest and mountain zone. (lot of them don't like it, I'm often there - nor good, nor particulary bad).
(i think that's what i call the 'service station'... after you release astral shells one seems to do well stopping by there; The nurse eventually gave me some 'pixie dust lotion' in a never-empty tiny bottle that makes a mockery of self-attachments that 'break your heart by forcing you to expand' - m)
Above the SANATORIUM the middle third of the W side is with forests and powerplants, labs there. Not good place. (can't say, it's rare for me to visit such things.) This area is separated by the city by several railroads. (This are important for me, they are several, sometime unusual 2 or more paralel roads, which bring me lot of difefrent dreams in 1 night.)
(agreed. you need to bring them gifts to make friends there. with the current state of the world the people there are stretched realy thin and they can use all the help you can give them. If you have nothing else to do, just go and see if you can hold someone's lever while they check in with their loved ones. I think supporting the gmone-zone, if only by asking how to make their lives easier is the duty of all dreamers - m)
The area from the SANATORIUM to E up to the LAKE consists of cataclysms zone (tornadoes etc.) next LABIRINTS (very dangerous for all.), a bit down the VILLAGE of EMPTY houses.
(you mean its not a training zone? if its the same place I have in mind, remember that you can try shouting "stop it you guys!" and they will. I go there to play and learn about the high energy dynamics interior to whatever plane you switch to.. Cyclones... rewrap your insides; volcanoes clean you out, the damn water vortexes make you forgive everyone and everything.. and the quakes and sands and rock-falls teach levitation and to hold your bubble. just ask for the department heads and get to know them. and I'm not kidding about you saying "stop it! now! - take it down a notch - gimme the tutorial again.." its an advanced zone, yes. - m)
Now the upper part. SW corner the HEAVEN place as village, next toward E 2 bridges, small and superbridge. (not clear where they lead, due the mountans of S .) next "THE CASTLE, Fotress, GIANT TOWER" (dangerous) also. Next the part above the city after some desert -. The AIRPORT. (for me the city ends S,SE with the FAIR, EXPO area (exists in my hometown) where at the E end is the EMBASSY. Just above is the AIRPORT. Next to it the JAIL, BARRACKS or something like that. (Nobody likes it, I've been there hundred times. You can always escape). Next toward E the FIELD with giant pylons, they connect it with some flyers activities, very dangerous. (haven't good vision for this one.) Finally to the SE corner anothe LABYRINTH with GUARDIAN into mountains.
(yes on the giants. you can't talk to those guys unless they are hungry, and if I recall correctly you can't really fly in that zone either. Just don't go there unless you've thought about bringing them some food! They seem to like jackals and its quite a messy business. But if you've got to see the king during the day, that's what you got to go through. Best to just vaporize and get solid in the castle guard house. This way the guards can do their job and you're not breaking any rules. - m)
This is basicaly the map. I would add some more important things like FESTIVAL HALL, underground levels etc. Also shotcuts, like passages which "telleport" you to another area. There is structures which are not so fixed and are diplacing and changing. You got the idea.

PATIENCE OF MEDICI

The "theory" of the Patience of Medici (or "Medici Patience") comes from the esoteric Russian teachings of "Dream Hacking", who developed the concept in 1999. Dreamhackers are mysticists in Russia who believe that one can also "hack" into dreams, basing themselves mostly on the Carlos Castaneda and his book "The Art of Dreaming" (Harper 1994).
There isn't a lot about this theory in English online (or probably also off-line), but there is some material in Russian. Apparently, this has to do with managing to influence the future through a game of patience ("Solitaire"). The game is, according to the dream-hackers, attributed to "Medici" (they do not say which one), who has used it to decide matters and foresee the future.
A brief explanation of the Patience of Medici", which mostly includes the interpretation of difference symbols appaering in dreams:
A chain of events is analysed "according to the Patience of Medici".
On a deck of cards, each card has meaning, according to this theory:

- Hearts : are sensual experiences (sympathy, antipathy, passion etc.)
- Diamonds: financial matters
- Clubs: social activity, work
- Spades: aggression, obstacles

In that, it is similar to Tarot cartomancy.

Further symbols:
- Ace: circumstances beyong our control
- King: the law
- Queen: people/animals with which we interact
- Jack: our personal motives, desire, motive, the intentions, which force us to act.
- 10: the result of our actions
- 9: information. our outputs, utterances.
- 8: contact
- 7: absorption (consumption of food and information, the survey of football, cinema, reading newspaper so forth.
- 6: displacement

Then, you play Medici's Patience (yes, a type of solitaire). Please note that only 6-A cards play:
- The deck of cards should be with the jackets upwards.
- You take out three cards and lay them.
- The middle (second) card is the most important one. If it is located between the cards with identical color (for example, between two hearts) or between the cards with identical values (for example, between two "ten"s), then this second card is shifted to the first.
- If the second card is not added to the first, you lay out the fourth card and you begin the analysis of the third card - i.e., you look, if is located between identical colours or identical values. If it is, it is shifted on the second card, and then you again return to its analysis of the second card (since the third became the second).
- If not, you open again - a fifth card and you begin to analyze the fourth card. Again, if the fourth is proven to be between similar values or colours, you put it on the third - it becomes the third - and the two are shifted on the second card - all become the second.
Interpretation: is done through looking at the chain of events, as manifested in the second card(s). Each new card is analysed as a proposed action, that would continue "broken chains" in our lives.

Description of Patience of Medici.
Take a pack of cards with the jackets upwards. Then you deal first three cards and lay them left-to-right and analyze the picture. The important card is the second. If it is located between two suited cards (e.g. two hearts), or between two cards of the same kind (e.g. two tens), then the second card is shifted onto the first. Hackers interpretation: an action has caused an event or response of the world. You reply to the response with new adequate action (which will match the next response), and the first event becomes closed, it does not delay your attention, forces or time anymore; it is now kind of completed and the chain of events is started from the second event. If the second card can not be shifted (it is not located between two cards with similar kind or suit) then you deal the fourth card and analyze the third one. You check weather it is located between two cards with similar kind or suit. If it is, then you shift it onto the second card and analyze the second card now (since the third card is now the second in the picture). If it is not, then you deal the fifth card and analyze the fourth one. Let the fourth card be lying between two suited cards; then it is shifted onto the third one and now is between two kings. Then the fourth card (together with the third one under it) is shifted onto the second one. Usually the Patience of Medici develops very seldom. There is a beautiful type of developing, when the chain of events seemed to be very complicated and unsolvable, but suddenly one new action caused the explosive developing of the whole chain. It means you have done one universal algorithm in the process of world creation. In the reality it looks like this: you live, do something, everything is dull and measured, but suddenly. Some action, accidental phone call or meeting start a flow of events, in one moment everything becomes involved in the vortex of actions, meetings, and your life changes greatly. Or it can happen this way: you do one action, and it causes tens of people to act. They run, solve the problems appeared, then the situation develops to a result that fit you greatly, it materializes your wish or intention. While this looks like amazing coincidence or a miracle, you know its a result of your intended effort.

Algorithms of the patience

Every card shifting will have a corresponding action in a real life; sometimes the action is rather absurd. What is exactly the action you need to perform is defined by the interpretation.

Sergejh:
That's right. When using the usual 54-cards pack how to define what action you have to perform, and when you are perform it? After each card dealt or after the whole pack, when no more cards left?
What do those algorithms mean? Is it that we put the cards in the order we need and then start to deal them?
Iveta:
What are the algorithms: any patience reflects some cut of the reality; or rather we can represent a cut with a patience. Any patience will develop at once. Letâ s keep to the optimum we'll take a pack of 36 cards to start. Indeed we can take even ten cards or six. My friend-drunkard uses the technique for three cards, as you noticed, and even this works for him.

Here are a couple of algorithms for 36-cards pack:

In first picture Ace of Diamonds is the first card, Nine of Diamonds is the last one. If you try to develop those pictures and experiment a bit then you'll understand why their algorithms are evaluated this way:

These algorithms are only two of many. Medieval witches used to make their books of shadows, which contained expressed in verse spells with the same rhythm “ 5:3:7 etc. I don't think it's a coincidence. Shall we rack our brains over making cards, whispering beads or intentions? No, and no once again! We can be hackers, anti-hackers or half-hackers, but weâ ll not become like magicians and witches. So, letâ s imagine we have our own personal magic book of algorithms “ each one is different from another, with favorite spells?

An example from life:

I'd like to see some example on my fingers. For instance, the following chain of events: I graduated from the institute and now I cannot find a job because no one needs programmer or web graphics specialist in our small town. Where there are proposals, they involve too strict requirements and low salary. Let's consider this example for a chain of events. From the beginning please. Beginning from the forming of intent then how to take the pack in my hand, how to toss it etc.

Response:
I consider you as my friend so I'm interested more in your involvement in creation of a system for intent realization than in some particular intent. So I purposely do not reveal to you correspondences between cards and events (for example, that you are king of some suit, that big money is 10c, that road is one of the six'es, that 8d means pleasant news etc). You have to do it yourself and for yourself as creation of intent, as application of your own efforts. And, believe me, if you want it strong enough, you will do it fairly quick, because there are many books on the subject! Well, so you created your own system of correspondences. Now you start to deal the beginning of the chain: your education has come to an end, business affairs, money affairs, obstacles… then gap… at the end put Qs (fulfillment of your plans) or Qc (worthy prize). You are somewhere in the middle of the chain Kd (if money is the goal) or Kc (if you plan career).
Then, using the algorithms (or parts of them) deal remaining cards, interpret them and perform them. You do not have to use all 36 cards. You may take only five or ten cards. It is enough for most cases.
Most important!!!
You have to create YOUR OWN system of interpretations. Start experimenting with this technique from small problems. You have to acquaint with how this thing is working before you apply it to more serious cases (which, by the way, include the choice of your destiny). Medical students study surgery for seven years and nobody allows them to operate people from the first week of their study. Believe me. Approach this technique with the same caution. By the way, it can influence not only you but many people around you. DO NOT HARM!

The point is: you keep a dreams diary (extremely useful thing in the beginning of the practice), but, when writing down your dreams you accentuate the place. Like: "I was meeting Cryonus in one strange street. We were talking about tibetan sharks. At the same time four burglars were robbing the jewelry shop. There was a horrible skirmish"?. Then you draw the plan of the street, location of the buildings; try to recall what is located nearby (outside the bubble of perception). If you remember nothing else“ just keep it as it is. Then you put a number of the dream in your dreams diary; place this number on your dreams map. I'll tell you about the orientation on the map later. In a period of time your bubbles will start to unit. There will be many of them, they will flow together, making from a hundred of fragments a dreams map“ an island of tonal. Making the map is putting your tonal in order. And, suddenly “ BANG! “ You start to recall places in your dreams you used to visit five or ten years ago. You just draw the railroad and the station you've seen in a dream, and then realize that you were following this route to some place. You know for sure it was in a dream; such place may even not exist in the reality. But in the world of dreams it does exist, and you draw it.
Such dream memory starts to visit you in increasing frequency. You feel something powerful growing inside you, something giant and unstoppable. Then Whoa! It rushes into you. At this moment you can draw nearly the whole map! You know almost all places! You are burning from inside with knowledge and power. You can do anything. People are clinging to you like flies do the same to stuff. Power attracts everyone. In a few hours your solemnity rises heaven-high.
It's an extremely dangerous moment. Crossroads! This way or that way! To the possession of the power followed by weakness, or to calm and careful advancement further. I will write about that. Hundreds of people fell off from "Hackers" at this exact point. Then they became usual people so much usual, that they tore their hair for that period of life, when the bird of knowledge carried them.
And do you know what is the thing you call the sight of the realization? It's your experience of meeting another dreamer. It comes so, that dreamers often see each other as unearthly beings. At some steps I and a ten of another people had to make initiations show our new friends dreaming together. First meetings are almost always the same. I was being apprehended very badly. Remember, that Carlos Castaneda was making a slip during the same meetings with S. Manuel. Everybody makes a slip or lose powers because of fear. These are monkey tricks of the first attention. While brain is adapting to the meetings with the elements of the second attention, facing the colleagues is ?a battle with evil creatures, who wants to take my soul?. This was a description of her first meeting with me, given by one of my acquaintances.
I'd like to get an answer to the question: How to cartography the world of dreams, if everything is being changed continuously? During the dreams map making you will find out, that not all of the regions of this artificial space are changing all the time. The thing you call world of dreams is an illusion. It's a description of a real phenomenon which escapes our attention. To describe it closely we do the artificial substitution.
Example: Unknown criminal makes a robbery and escapes on a car in unknown direction. That is, we have squared uncertainty. Criminalist uses the artificial substitution and gets: (a) plaster cast of the cover print; (b) finger-print of the criminal. One day later the State Automobile Inspection determines the model of the car, and the Informational Center of the Ministry of Home Affairs gives the file on the person with the same finger-print.
Conclusion: by using the artificial substitution (dreams map) we can learn a lot about that unknowable phenomenon, that you call world of dreams. Map is not the world. Globe is not the Earth. While making the map you will learn that there are zones of transmutations regions of continuous changes. Moreover, you should take into account, that fixation of the attention in dreams requires power. A lot of power the world is firm and stable like the everyday reality. Lack of power you are borne from one plot to another. All the science of the dreamer consists of two tricks: bringing in the attention into dreams and fixating the things you perceive.

The main goal of dream cartography is accumulation of second attention. As you already understanded, your map of dream relief permanently transformed. When you will accumulate critical mass of descriptions of different places, you will need to reveal their common properties: you'll see you deal with descriptions of the same bubbles. These common properties by which different descriptions unite into the same bubbles do not mean close positions on the map or similarity of landscape or something like that but the context of situation, events happening with you at this place. For example in some bubbles you are being chased by someone, in others you find unusual things (artifacts) or restore health. Try to unite bubbles using such characteristics. Don't give serious attention to people or other sprite characters, you would only scatter your concentrated attention. When you accumulate critical mass of attention and learn to orient easily in your dream world you'll understand why dreamhackers advise to do it that way. About cardinal directions, try to look for borders made by rivers, mountains and compare them to daylife reality (or rather to landscape of the world you perceived in childhood). One more trick, carry with you a compass. Daylife reality is also composed of bubbles of perception but connected harder with each other. And in dreams remember about a compass or imagine it, it will show you exact direction.
